My name is Sebastian “Bash” Herwick and being a catcher is one of the most important things I do in my life. Ever since I first threw on the gear in T-Ball I knew it suited my personality. I am a confident, natural born leader who takes pride in having a sense of fearlessness, which I think is important as a catcher. But I am also a younger brother so I understand the importance of being humble, and just quietly getting the job done. I love the pressure of being behind the plate and leaving everything on the field to try to help my team win. My catching coach has instilled the fundamentals in me and I promised him to always stay true to them rather then constantly worrying about my pop time. My ultimate goal would be to play at a college level where I could also get an incredible education. My older brother attends Boston College and I have been inspired by his experience at an elite academic college. In terms of how I play the game of baseball – hard-nosed with respect for how it should be played. I am constantly working on my ability to hit the ball to any part of the field and be a situational hitter. I have always hit a lot of home runs but that is not my focus when I get to the plate. I do consider myself a bit faster on my feet than most catchers and love stealing bases when coach lets me. I am a currently a freshman at Oakwood High School in North Hollywood and also play with TPA.
