BIO

My name is Gavin Rolando and I am a 14 year old student athlete that takes pride in excelling at both.  My family is very supportive of both of these aspects of my life and I work hard to ensure that I lead both in the classroom and on the field.

I consider myself to be athletic, hard working, a good friend, a good teammate and laid back when I’m not on the field.  In my off time I like to play video games and hang out with friends.   I have 2 younger sisters that play softball who are also passionate about their sport and 2 older brothers that played sports growing up and throughout high school. I would like to pursue my passion as they all have throughout high school and into college.

I played multiple sports for my junior high school team and loved it. Along with baseball I also played football and soccer. Our football team won the CYO Los Angeles Gold bracket championship this past year and it’s something I’m very proud of. I was honored to receive the Defensive Player of the year honors for my team for the job I did as the teams shut down corner. Our soccer team did well also and I had a blast primarily as a defender competing with my friends. Baseball is my passion though and I’ve been fortunate enough to make many great memories. My teammates and I have won many tournaments along the way but the Dreamspark Cooperstown Championship at 12U was especially amazing. My main position is catcher. I love being behind the plate and calling a game especially when the score is close. It’s a lot of fun to be involved during every pitch and I work hard during practice and lessons to make sure I am always at my best. When I’m not catching I play middle infield but have played almost every position on a baseball field at one time or another.

I work hard in the classroom also and will be graduating 8th grade with honors having maintained a GPA of 3.8 throughout my time in middle school. I will be attending Chaminade College Preparatory High School in the Fall of 24’.  My parents and I chose Chaminade because we felt it closely aligned with my desire to attend a school that excelled both academically and in sports. Academically the school is known to be very challenging and the baseball team competes in the very competitive Mission League. I am excited for the challenge of both and am excited to continue my academic and sports journey at such a great school.
